First Presbyterian Church seeks to offer an effective Christian Education program designed to assist children and adults in developing a mature faith with emphasis on both learning and doing.

Sunday school is held each Sunday (September - June 1st) 9:45 - 10:45 a.m., beginning with a gathering time in the chapel.  The Sunday School program teaches the children about Jesus through lessons, music and crafts. Sunday School is offered for ages three through adult.

The
Senior Youth Group offers opportunities for spiritual growth and social interaction for youth grades 7 through 12. The group meets as needed for planning and then again each month for a program or mission activity and sometimes just a fun event or outing. Every year, usually in the summer, the Senior Youth Group takes part in a week-long work project as volunteers in mission.

CHILDREN'S DAY

Children’s Day is set for June 1st - Please note that this is a change from the last courier. The children and youth of our church will be leading our worship service on that day. We will have a practice on May 31st from 10 am – noon. Please let us know if you will not be able to make it. There will be no Sunday School after June 1st until September 7th.

CHERUB CHOIR AND JUNIOR BELLS

If your child is enrolled in Sunday School, you will be getting a letter soon about the addition of the Cherub Choir (age three through second grade) and a children’s handbell group called Junior Bells (third grade through seventh grade). This will be starting May 4th at 9:30 (15 minutes earlier than we usually start) We hope to see all of our younger children participate !

Weekly Men's Breakfast
And Bible Study

The Wednesday morning Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study Group continues to meet every Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m. The time begins with a hot breakfast together and finishes with about 30 minutes of Bible Study, concluding at about 7:30 a.m. We read the Scripture together and then share our insights about how God is speaking to us and to our time through these ancient texts. We all enjoy being together! It would be even better if you joined with us!

Adult Education

• An Adult Sunday School Class has been added to our Sunday morning Christian Education schedule. This class meets from 9:45 – 10:30 a.m. with coffee available in the Blue Room of the CE Wing.  George Thompson and Ken Schermerhorn serve as the leadership team to guide the group’s discussions.
The group is now reading and discussing the book "Adventures in Missing the Point" by Brian McLaren and Tony Campolo.  This study promises to bring us into a closer relationship with God and into fellowship with one another. Please join us and bring a friend!
